Wheel Balancer Repair & Calibration in Los Angeles

Error code on the screen? Readings that change every spin? Customers coming back with vibrations? We repair and calibrate wheel balancers at your shop.

Tire Balancer Machine Repair That Fixes the Cause

A balancer that reads wrong is worse than one that’s down — it sends cars out with vibrations and brings customers back angry. Most of the time the problem isn’t the whole machine: it’s a sensor, a worn shaft, a loose flange or a calibration that drifted.

We come to your shop, find the real fault, repair it and calibrate the balancer to spec before we leave. Standard balancers, touchscreen models and road-force units, on every major brand.

What we fix

Common Wheel Balancer Problems We Repair

Inconsistent Readings

Different weights on the same wheel every spin, or a wheel that never reaches zero. Usually calibration, sensors or mounting wear.

Error Codes on Screen

Calibration, rotation, sensor or hood errors that stop the machine from spinning or finishing a cycle.

Won’t Spin or Won’t Brake

Motor, belt, drive board or brake problems that leave the shaft dead or spinning without stopping.

Worn Shaft, Cones & Flanges

Runout on the shaft or worn centering cones throw off every reading. We measure, replace and re-check.

Display & Keypad Faults

Blank screens, dead buttons or a touchscreen that stopped responding.

Hood & Arm Sensors

Hood switch not detecting, or distance and diameter arms reading the wrong wheel size.

Error codes

Wheel Balancer Error Codes: What They Usually Mean

Every brand numbers its codes differently, but most wheel balancer error codes fall into a few groups. Knowing the group tells you whether it’s a quick fix or a service call.

  • Calibration errors — the machine lost its reference. Sometimes a recalibration clears it; if it keeps coming back, a sensor or the shaft is usually the cause.
  • Rotation or speed errors — the shaft isn’t reaching or holding speed. Belt, motor, encoder or drive board.
  • Sensor or transducer errors — the machine can’t read vibration correctly. These need testing, not guessing.
  • Hood or safety errors — the hood switch or interlock isn’t being detected, so the machine won’t start a cycle.
  • Measurement arm errors — the distance or diameter gauge is reading out of range.

FAQs

Wheel Balancer Repair Questions

Still unsure? Call us at +1 (805) 285-1878.

Do you repair wheel balancers at my shop?

Yes. Wheel balancer repair is on-site across Los Angeles and Ventura County, and most balancers are repaired and calibrated in a single visit.

How often should a wheel balancer be calibrated?

Check it every few months in a busy shop, after the machine is moved, and any time readings stop repeating on the same wheel.

Can recalibrating clear an error code?

Sometimes. If the error comes back after a recalibration, something physical is usually wrong — a sensor, the shaft or the drive — and it needs a technician.

Do you repair bent wheels or rims?

No — we repair the balancing machines that tire shops use. For a bent wheel on your vehicle, visit a tire or wheel shop in your area; many of the shops we service around Los Angeles can help.

How much does wheel balancer repair cost?

It depends on the fault. We diagnose first and explain the repair and the cost before starting any work.

Is it worth repairing an older balancer?

Usually. Most failures are sensors, cones, belts or boards, which cost far less than a new machine. We’ll tell you honestly if yours isn’t worth repairing.
